Rockwood Motor Court: Hotel Review
TLDR: 8/10 another iconic spot to stay along Route 66. It’s perfectly clean, the rooms are themed and the owners are lovely. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend staying in Springfield, MO.
I greatly enjoyed my stay at Rockwood Motor Inn! My themed room was kitchy and fun, the owners were incredibly kind and the fun retro details made the space really enjoyable. If you’re in Springfield Missouri and looking for a Hotel this is a great option. For Route 66’ers this is a no-brainer - it embraces everything about the Route and ties in perfectly if you plan to stop in Springfield.
Positives:
Well located in Springfield directly on Route 66 and you can drive right in
Friendly owners and an easy check-in process
Well priced! With tax my room was $72/night
Nice retro amenities - coffee, tea, small mini fridge. Products in the bathroom - felt like a lot of love and effort had been put into restoring this spot.
Negatives:
This location is a tad rough. Springfield MO has it’s own challenges so while the Motor Court is iconic I would probably skip Springfield as a stop and go from Cuba to Carthage.
It’s really simple. Bed + bathroom, that’s it.
Overall:
A great piece of Route 66 History but if you’re coming from Cuba, I’d probably keep on driving. If you’re definitely staying in Springfield this is the place to stay. It’s a great little Motel and you can feel the love in the details. It’s not their fault that Springfield has some issues. Very glad that Rockwood is here and wishing them continued success!
