My NYC Top 10 this Spring (‘25)
Coffee: Cafe Ambrosia
Broadway: Death Becomes Her
Bakery: Mary O’s Soda Bread Scones
Cosy Vibes: Swedish Church
Underrated lunch: Bite
Gym: Lifetime
Transport: Citibike
Art: The Frick
Fun: SPIN NYC
Pizza: Carnegie Pizza
Coffee: Cafe Ambrosia
Friendly faces, gorgeous windows, bright layout, consistently delicious coffee. You’ll catch me here multiple times a week working on my laptop and looking out of those windows,
Broadway: Death Becomes Her
Went in with low expectations, came out downloading the Cast Recording. Such a fun and enjoyable show. Incredibly talented large ensemble and a really well executed show. If you’re on the fence, go see it.
Bakery: Mary O’s Soda Bread Scones
Oh my gosh. Insane. Worth the wait but also if you get there early the line is short and efficient. Still worth waiting in line regardless. What a gem of a store!
Cosy Vibes: Swedish Church
This one has been a long time favorite as they stock one of my favorite chocolates in the world. But passing through this season I saw they have completely changed their cafe. Instead of tucked away in the basement it’s now in a stunning lofted library like setting. My little hidden gem.
Underrated lunch: Bite
You know those places you consistently walk by but never go inside. That for me is Bite but I finally walked in and now I’m there almost every day. What a fantastic asset to Chelsea. Great fresh food, reasonable prices and generally pretty healthy too. I would recommend this one to everyone.
Gym: Lifetime
After a year at Chelsea Piers, I’ve made the return to Lifetime. I actually love it. It lacks the culty energy of an Equinox and attracts an older clientelle which makes for a far calmer gym experience. Everywhere has it’s quirks but I’ve been really enjoying being back at a Lifetime location.
Transport: Citibike
It’s warm enough to cycle again! I used to be so fit before those electric Citibikes but very grateful to have them.
Art: The Frick
The Frick is back! I wouldn’t become a member but I did really enjoy the collection and think it’s worthwhile seeing.
Fun: SPIN NYC
I ran a team building event here and I couldn’t believe how well run SPIN NYC was. Ping pong with drinks where they catch all the balls for you. With very mixed ping pong skills my whole group had a fantastic time. I’d go back here in a heartbeat. Something I’d known about for years and glad I finally made it there.
Pizza: Carnegie Pizza
Holy Pizza! Around the corner from Joe’s, this one is worth it. No line, so saucy, the Vodka slice is insane. Skip the line at Joe’s, go to Carnegie instead. I say that as a lover of Joe’s but I really do believe Carnegie is just as good. A large NYC slice with a pretty thin crust, delicious toppings, nice fold. I assumed this spot was touristy but I was wrong, delicious pizza.
