NYC in March, the 2025 Recommendations
You know I love a good recommendation, and NYC always has something new to check out. Here’s what I’ve loved lately—plus a few spots on my radar.
Theater You Should Absolutely See
I’ve seen both of these in the last six months, and they were so good:
🎭 Maybe Happy Ending – A small but gorgeous musical set in a near-future Seoul, about two out-of-date helper robots figuring out what it means to be alive. One of those shows that sneaks up on you and sticks in your head for days.
🎭 Sunset Boulevard – If you love drama and old Hollywood glamour, this revival is stunning. The production design alone is worth it.
Next up for me: Death Becomes Her and Smash—both should be fun in totally different ways.
Where to Eat, Drink & Hang
I’m not into the spots that are impossible to get into (or where you need to refresh Resy 100 times a day). These are my go-tos and recent finds:
🍷 Jazz & Wine Bars – My favorite way to do a night out.
Bo Peep (Garment District) – A little underground jazz club that feels like a secret.
Martiny’s (Gramercy) – Stunning interiors, fantastic cocktails.
🌆 Greenpoint – If you haven’t been recently, go. So many great spots have popped up in the last year, and while it can be a little pretentious, the food is worth it.
Rule of Thirds - A chic Japanese inspired Brunch spot known for their souffle pancakes
🍸 Speakeasies in the Theater District – Perfect for pre- or post-show drinks, and they’re not slammed with tourists.
The Woo Woo – Fun, unpretentious, and actually hidden.
Madame George – Dark, stylish, a little moody.
The Campbell (inside Grand Central) – Feels very old-school NYC, but can get packed depending on the night.
Museums That Aren’t the Met or MoMA
If you want something different (or just don’t want to deal with the crowds):
🎥 Museum of the Moving Image – All about film and media, with really cool exhibits.
🖼️ Morgan Library – If you like old books, history, and dramatic libraries, this one’s a dream.
🔠 New York Sign Museum – A fun little museum dedicated to vintage NYC signage.
🏛️ The Cloisters – Worth the trek uptown. Feels like stepping into a medieval European monastery, but with great views of the Hudson.
Neighborhoods to Just Wander Around
When I don’t have a plan but want a good walk + great food and coffee:
🚶♀️ East Village → Lower East Side → NoHo – A perfect day of vintage shopping, coffee, and interesting people-watching.
🀄 Chinatown – I love this neighborhood, but it’s even better if you do a local tour. Highly recommend @mottstreetgirls for the history and food side of things.
🌳 Upper East Side into Central Park – Classic, but still great. Museum, park walk, maybe a coffee at Ralph’s if the line isn’t insane.
🏡 Park Slope / Cobble Hill – Brooklyn but make it relaxed. A lot of beautiful brownstones and cute little spots to stop in.
🌊 Greenpoint – I know I mentioned this already, but really, go. It’s having a moment. Lots of signs for hidden thrifts, markets and cafes. Head to the main street and just follow the signs that are interesting to you.
